Our June Support Group

Thank you to all who joined our recent support group meeting! It was a great session, filled with insightful discussions and shared experiences. For those who couldn't make it, here's a quick recap of the key topics we covered:

Strategies for Managing Emotional Eating

Identifying Triggers:

  • We discussed the importance of recognizing emotional eating triggers, such as stress, boredom, or loneliness.
  • Keeping a food journal was suggested as a useful tool to track eating patterns and emotions.

Developing Healthy Coping Mechanisms:

  • Ideas included physical activities like walking or yoga, engaging in hobbies, and practicing mindfulness or meditation.
  • Reaching out for support from friends, family, and  or  the team was identified as important.

Mindful Eating Techniques:

  • Practicing mindful eating by savoring each bite, eating slowly, and paying attention to hunger and fullness cues.
  • Weight Maintenance Post-Surgery

Consistent Meal Planning:

  • Emphasis on planning meals and snacks to avoid impulsive eating and to ensure balanced nutrition.

Setting Realistic Goals:

  • Focusing on small, achievable goals and celebrating progress along the way to stay motivated.

Next support group meeting, " Physical activity with exercise physiologist, Ella McDougall'.

I look forward to seeing you there and hearing more of your valuable experiences and insights.

Stay warm, stay active, and stay connected!
